Jos Buttler, the England captain, is on the chat. He says it was not an easy task and the conditions were also challenging. He adds that Malan's knock was excellent and there was a lot for the bowler in the wicket. He adds that they would like to improve more in bowling. He ends by stating that there is still a lot to improve and that they will look forward to the next game.
Dawid Malan wins the Man of the Match award for his exceptional efforts with the bat. He starts by saying that the experience of playing in Bangladesh certainly helped him get over the line here. He mentions that if the home team scores 30-40 runs more, which could make things difficult. He adds that it is never easy to bat a slow wicket. He informs that Adil Rashid has 10 centuries in first-class cricket, he keeps reminding the team members of the same and he showed his class in today's performance as well.
Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh captain, wants to chat. He says there were not enough runs of the plate and they needed 30-40 runs more. He adds that their bowlers have done a good job and on this kind of wicket, 250 would be a good score. He says Malan batted really well and they tried everything they had in bowling options. He ends by stating that the bowlers did well and will improve on their mistakes in the next game.
Stay tuned for the presentation…
Earlier in the innings, Bangladesh started with the top order but failed to capitalize on it except for Shant who stood with the bat with a 58-run knock. Although, once it fell, no other batter could make the vital knock. They were bundled out for 209 runs in the end. It was more of a collective bowling effort for England. All the bowlers came in and said with the ball in hand.
Bangladesh were on top early with their electrifying start with the ball. Considering they were defending a low target, the spinners did really well to control the run flow and take wickets at regular intervals. However, the bowler couldn't keep things in the death over and it cost them the game. Taijul Islam was the standout performer with his three-wicket haul. Bangladesh would take a lot of positives out of this game and there are definitely sides that can make a comeback on home turf.
That was a good fight from England. The visitors got off to a shaky start when Jason Roy in the first over. The pressure continued to mount as they teetered on 65/4 at one stage when Jos Buttler departed. Dawid Malan, who came to the crease very early, was able to bat throughout the innings to get his side over the line. The conditions were trickier for all batsmen, although Malan took plenty of time to find his groove. Once he did, there was no stopping him. Later, the experience of Malan and Adil Rashid helped them get over the line here.
A fantastic win for England. They took an early lead in this series. Bangladesh certainly ran for their money, but failed to capitalize on it at the end.
